Science à la carte

The session Science à la carte intends to promote the dialogue between two researchers in the area of health science, in an informal conversation. In this session, the invited researchers will start by presenting the research projects in which they are involved and its application in Health. In a second part of the session, conservation will be extended to the audience based on a list of questions previously collected among the participants of the meeting.
Auxiliar Professor at the Faculdty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra. Cláudia Cavadas holds a bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a master degree in Cell Biology. She obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Speciality in Pharmacology in 2002 by the University of Coimbra.
Claúdia Cavadas is interested in studying the hypothalamus and the impact of neuropetides on age related mechanisms. Cláudia Cavadas has published more than 60 papers and leads several international funded projects. Se was the Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra (2011-2013). Professor Cavadas is also the President of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology since 2016, and coordinator of the Science Communication Office of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell biology (CNC-UC) of the University of Coimbra.
Adjunt Professor at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology of the Polytechnic of Leiria (IPLeiria). Rui Pedrosa holds a bachelor degree in Biochemistry and a master degree in Cell Biology. He obtained his PhD in Human Biology by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto.
Rui Pedrosa’s research areas are related with Marine Biotechnology, Cellular Pharmacology and Cell Biology. His currently the principal investigator and collaborator of several national and international R&D projects in the marine resources area, at MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, Peniche, IPLeiria. Professor Pedrosa was formerly the coordinator of GIRM (Marine Resources Research Group) and is presently the Vice-President of the Polytechnic of Leiria.
